Why Go Xero
Zero Emissions
Electric vehicles significantly reduce CO2 emissions and produce no urban air pollution.
Low Noise
A XERO is virtually silent. Noise pollution is considered a serious public health risk by the World Health Organisation.
Low Carbon Footprint
If we were to plant a forest with the aim of offsetting the UK's carbon emissions, the forest would need to cover the entire area of the UK and half as much again.
Urban Commuting
60% of car trips are less than 5 miles, 25% are less than 2 miles.
Social Responsibility
Make a difference by going XERO and encouraging others to improve the environment we live in.
Low Initial Investment
You can purchase a XERO from as little as £399.
Economical
Recharge cost equates to less than 1p per mile.
Exemption from road tax
Exemption from inner-city congestion charges
Lowest rated insurance group
Lowest rated company vehicle tax band
Minimal Maintenance
The majority of the key components on a XERO are sealed and maintenance free. No oil or spark plugs to change or filters to replace.
Eco Incentives
Government subsidies, registration fees and tax reductions for business users provide significant savings.
Accessibility
Benefits such as free parking and re-charging points in many cities as well as access to restricted inner-city traffic zones such as bus and cycle lanes.
Facts you should be aware of...
Your Environment!
- Battery-electric cars using renewable energy provide the largest reduction in greenhouse gases. Even with ‘standard-mix’ electric vehicles greenhouse gases are reduced by 40%.
- Road transport in the UK accounts for over 20% of total emissions.
- The transport sector is the fastest growing source of greenhouse gases.
- London road transport contributes almost 80% of particulate emissions.
- 10% improvement in 'mpg' will reduce greenhouse gases by 10%.
- Traffic of passenger cars contributes to 12% of man-made CO2 in Europe
Your Wallet!
- UK fuel excise duty and VAT rates are set at 50.4% and 15% respectively. For electric vehicles fuel duty is zero whilst the VAT rate is just 5%.
- As of 1st April 2009 vehicles with emissions of less than 100 g/km pay zero road tax. In comparison vehicles producing more than 165 g/km pay £175 and any vehicle producing in excess of 225 g/km will pay £405 per year.
- Electric vehicles, Hybrid vehicles and 2 wheeled vehicles are all congestion charge exempt.
- Company vehicle tax is linked to both vehicle cost and emission rating. Based on an average car emission of 165 g/km you will be paying 21% of vehicle value. Vehicles powered solely by electric are subject to only a 9% tax band.
Your Health!
- According the World Health Organisation air pollution causes 2 million premature deaths globally per year.
- Researchers estimate that one in every 50 heart attacks in London is triggered by air pollution.
- Exposure to particulate matter can cause wheezing and similar symptoms in people with asthma or sensitive airways.
- Lead content has been reduced in gasoline however even small ingestions or inhalations of lead can be harmful because lead accumulates in the body.
- Carbon Monoxide interferes with the blood’s ability to carry oxygen to the brain, heart and other tissues.
- In Europe, around 40% of the population is estimated to be exposed to noise levels that are potentially dangerous to health.
